    The almost complete hominid fossil of a baby girl,3 3 million years old,’ Selam’ was discovered in 2000 by Ethiopian paleo-anthropologist Dr. Zeresenay Alemseged un Dikika- Afar Region

    • This belongs to the same species, Australopithecus Afarensis, as another Ethiopian super star, Lucy( locally known as’ Dinknesh’) which is 3 2 million years old and was found in 1974.
    • Unlike Lucy, the three year old baby girl (nicknamed Selam) has fingers, a foot , a complete torso and most important of all, a face.
    • Dr. Zeresenay has also discovered fossilized stone Tools used 3 4 million years making it the oldest in the world.
    • the latest discovery is Ardi, 4 4 million years old.
    • These finds without a doubt classify Ethiopia as the cradle of mankind
