  • Lake Tana is the largest lake with 37 islands of which 20 islands have churches and monasteries of great historical and cultural interest.
  • Lake Abaya in Arbaminch is not only the largest but also the longest in the Ethiopian Rife Valley.
  • At Lake Abaya and Lake Chamo (an angler’s paradise) one can fish the Nile perch’ which could weigh 100 kilograms and also catch the fighting ‘Tiger fish.
  • Lake shalla is the deepest lake with a depth of 260 meters.
  • Lake Langano is the only lake with a sandy beach and is ideal for swimming and boating .
