Emperor Menelik II

Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia was the only African ruler in colonial times to defeat a well-equipped European army. He defeated Italians at the ‘Battel of Adawa’ in 1986.

This defeat sent shock waves throughout the world to all countries that were engaged in colonizing.
