#5 Obie

Obese Obie. That's what I imagine the other dogs on the playground would snicker-bark at the world's fattest Dachshund. I'm sorry, Obie, but it's a dog-eat-dog world.
This dog is adorable, but he has a huge problem. He weighs in at five and a half stone — that's 77 pounds. The average Dachshund weighs a maximum of 32 pounds. Obie is more than twice the normal weight for these breeds.
It was reported that Obie was nearly feed to death by his elderly owners, who eventually gave him up because of their own waning health. But have no fear. He's been adopted by Portland-based veterinary technician Nora Vanetta.

#4 Barney

At the rate he was eating, he was on the way to being the size of a hundred and one Dalmatians.
On a diet of chocolate and crisps, Barney's distinctive spots had swollen into great blotches, and he was carrying so much flab he could barely move.
When RSPCA inspectors raided owner John Green's home, the overfed dog tipped the scales at a mammoth 11st, double what he should have weighed.

Since he was taken into care in June, he has slimmed down to just over 6st, and he is now ready to go to a new home.
Inspectors seized eight-year-old Barney after Green, of Macclesfield, Cheshire, ignored warnings to stop overfeeding him.

Magistrates in the town heard that Green treated Barney more like a friend than a pet, regularly sharing fatty treats with him.
'When he had a packet of crisps, Barney had a packet of crisps,' said Andrew Meachin, prosecuting.
Along with regular bars of chocolate, Barney's food intake left him 'morbidly obese', and the dog was immediately seized by the RSPCA.

#3 Alfie

Labrador Alfie is as charming as the classic English ladies man, but not quite as slim. According to The (U.K.) Telegraph, Alfie weighs over 170 pounds and is thought to be the fattest dog in Britain.
The sweet-mannered pooch grew to this surprising size due to sad circumstances. Alfie's former owner suffers from dementia and was unable to
keep track of how often he hand-fed his loving pet.

#2 Sampson

Sampson, an 8 year old Labrador weighs 85 kg, that's 42 kg more than he should weigh. He is so unfit that staff at the Animal Aid Shelter say it will take him at least until Christmas to shed half his weight. A dog this overweight carries serious health risks.
Can't Be Exercised

Unfortunately, he cannot be safely exercised because he is just too heavy. He is taken once a week to a Melbourne shelter for a weigh-in in the Animal Aid van because he doesn't fit in the back seat of his foster carer's car.

Bad Diet
Vets say his unhealthy size is largely due to a bad diet and excessive quantities of food. It was thought that Sampson was fed huge caloric meals, fast food and fatty treats for good behavior.
Sampson is living with Dr. Amber Lavery a vet with Animal Aid who hopes to cut his weight in half before he is put up for adoption.

Struggling To Adjust
"His former owners couldn't resist his big brown eyes that follow you around saying 'feed me'," said Dr. Lavery.

With such a huge appetite, Sampson is now struggling to adjust to his new strict calorie-controlled diet of dry dog biscuits and water.
But she insists, "tough love means saying, no."

#1 Abandoned Dog

Not much is known about this dog other than it was wandering a beach abandoned, probably overfed by tourists and passing people.
