    Major traditional musical instruments are the ‘Masinko’-one stringed, the ‘kerar’-6 stringed. the 10 stringed ‘Begena’-
    (harp) used for playing ecclesiastical music and the ‘Washint’(flute). pipes and horns.

    • St. yared is considered Ethiopia’s father of music he lived in Axum in the 6th century AD . He is the author of cantatas, traditional education and various pieces of religious literature that has been used by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church for the past 1.500 years.

    Ethiopia has started the construction of the biggest hydropower on the Blue Nile River that will produce 6,000 MW.
